Don't Go

Don't Go

A Poem by Neal S

That old tin can
You threw your pennies in
Just in case
You have to run

Those black and white photographs
Faded and torn
They stay in your heart
Like the thorn on a rose

No need to worry love
I'm here with you

Thanks so much! :)
i have albums, i have a tin with photographs..several black and white---like life used to be...clearer when i was younger...but now, the color has been added...and i am an old confused poet just trying to make sense of all the thorns...wondering why they choke the roses...and keep me away from touching them.

Thank you ma'am! Glad you enjoyed it!
I believe we always think of love as something tangible, something that will always be there, no matter what. It's good to have that kind of assurance...even on a rainy day...even when the pennies all run out.

hehe!.....
I feel happy to know the existence of true love...

I love these lines especially,

"Those black and white photographs
Faded and torn
They stay in your heart
Like the thorn on a rose"

It seems a happy and cozy place to live in. Well, the more people write about such things, the more changes will occur in the minds of people going through them. Lets hope the world will become a better place that we have imagined to live in.

Thank you so much Kathy.
Those thorns never let us forget, do they? Poignant, reflective words, excellently captured.

No worries. :)
The end is so sweet and caring. The rest speaks of a past that still impacts today.

Okay, thank you. I will.
~ wow... i know that insecurity that makes one want to run... and i like the two completely different images in the second stanza and the innovative way in which you tied them together... very sensitively and skillfully written...

~ you're welcome, monsieur... :)
Was brought up saving pennies for a rainy day. Still rains, not enough pennies.
I have inherited all the black and white photo though.
As long as you're both going strong.

yeah so was I. And indeed there never seems to be enough pennies. Thanks for stopping by Paul.
