The Child

The Child

A Poem by Divine Pain

All alone in the dark,

A child fears for her life.

Waiting for mommy to return,

The child cries from being torn.

Keeping the terror and fear inside,

The child tends to run and hide.

Feeling helpless and tired,

The child wants to be free.

Mommy returns from work,

Life returns normal.

The man mommy dates,

Conceals something within his soul,

An evil inside only the child knows.

Mommy is off to work,

The man returns with more hate,

The child silently prays,

“Please lord, take him away!”

Years pass,

The child grows,

Molested by a man everyone knows,

The child is so deeply torn inside,

The child attempts suicide.

After learning that’s not a way,

To deal with the hurt and pain.

The child decides to dominate,

Her feelings she desserts,

Holding a sword in one hand,

And a shield in the other,

She stands in defense,

Of her new life and her new family.

                                                                  One Love,

                                                                   Negrita

Author's Note

Divine Pain
This poem is based on a true story, the child has been abused so badly that she ended up hating everything and everyone. She got out of control and gotten into trouble with the law...So those of you who thinks people that get into a lot of drama are just bad people...Think again it may be something deeper than what you think.

Such a sensitive subject. Your poem deals with it in a tasteful and understated manner. The ending is triumphant. Good triumphing over evil.....overcoming it!
