suffering from depression, i am trying to process the information i have been given by way of this poem.

feeling as sick as i have been,

wondering what it could possibly be.

a diagnosis of depression last week,

was no real shock to lucky me.

 

i have seen this illness in my mum,

i know the pain that she goes through.

realizing i have the same problem,

is proving to be a hard thing to do.

 

i am reading and i am writing,

looking for ways to understand.

i love the way life can lead you,

to where you hadn't planned.

 

apparently things will get better for me,

with psychotherapy and effexor xr.

the future will be a bright one,

if i don't get hit by a car!

It seems almost a lighthearted look at depression,or at least an optimistic outlook which is a good thing
