Goodbye..

Goodbye..

A Poem by Emma Moody
"

This is a poem about a soldier going to fight in the war and coping without his family.

"
As he packs his bags,
His children cry,
The mother, has no words.
He put his uniform on,
Knowing he has to be strong,
no matter, how much it hurts.
He takes one more look at his home ,
and realises,he doesn't want to go to,
but he has no choice,
he's got to do what he's got to do.
He has a tear in his eye,
as his children say goodbye,
but for his country he must hold firm.
He gives his wife a kiss,
which to him lasted a lifetime.

As he unpacks his bags,
he wonders if he has made a mistake,
he's abandoned his life,
left his kids and his wife,
but knows that its for the good.
He knows he'll see them soon.
So he wipes the tear in his eye,
picks up his weapon and goes out to fight,
for he knows that that is right.

So that night he shuts his eyes,
preparing himself for what lies ahead.
He knows he cannot back down,
for he is a soldier who has came here to fight,
he knows it's what he has to do,
he knows that it is right.
