Fault

Fault

A Poem by nic
"

this is the first thing I've written in ages

"
Maybe it's my fault, my fault
I gave false meaning to a lie I caught teething
And oh, it's probably my own fault
I trusted the sinner hiding in the skin of a saint

A time capsule unlocked and reversed
I knew you like I knew no other
Perfection through the eyes of the innocent
I never thought you'd break me

Flash forward, and your eyes meet mine
And I wish I knew what entailed in your figure
Because if I'd known it'd dissolve my heart
I would've turned right back 'round

And oh, it's probably my own fault
Blinded by naivety that took the shape of love
When it was really darkened lust
And here I am wondering what went wrong
When nothing was right in the first place

And the stars fucked it up,
A faulty constellation, a mirage of a dream.
I had wished upon satellites, not Orion's Belt when I wished that you'd want me,
But instead you faked what I felt.

I never thought you'd hurt me
But you lured me into the Lions den
While you distracted me with broken promises
Of things you never meant

And it's my fault, my fault, my fault
You never said you loved me,
You never said you loved me.
