Somebody has to SettleA Poem by Norie CBroken antlers of anger, Ridged, frigid, Poking beneath the surface,
Gently breaking the skin, The skin I’m in, The skin on the brim, The outer of the inner,
Like a heart worn on a sleeve, Emotions flutter in the breeze,
Slow becomes fast, Smiles and frowns; they stop, go, freeze, And collapse onto bloody knees,
Eyes pointed toward the ground, There is no noise and no such thing as sound,
What a quiet kidnapping this is,
The silence begins its acquisition, It whispers sweetly to my soul, “You are mine”,
Thus my throat casts empty cries across the sky, The commands echo, Oh how they echo,
“Take me”,
“Mold me and fold me”,
“Misconstrue all that I know”,
“And in the bright and unforgiving sun lye me down to bask in the burning sensation”,
“Have me strewn out, Wide awake in all the glory of those who created me,
"Leave me be, to accept my freedom as a slave to the world around me.” © 2011 Norie C |
