Actions Speak Louder than Words (So I've Heard)A Poem by Norie CThe sun shares no secrets in this effervescent meadow, It knows what is to come; the clouds know it too, I can only wait, but with waiting comes fading, Gray plays upon my face as the shadow swoops down upon me, Grabbing my throat with pain I cannot deny, Reaching down into my lungs and clenching them with strength I have never known,
I gasp for air with lungs now tainted, Breathing and heaving; lungs, tonsils, throat, All now painted; painted in crimson, It only smirks, "Tis' the season,"
Each drop of blood, for it, is a magnet of amusement, It cares not for the life seeping out, but only for the sight, the taste, It lives to chase,
Words try to slip out, to escape, but only disintegrate, Into a serene atmosphere they float, Unheard and in vain, How odd it is that I found comfort in this place; It was always my happy place,
Lying here in what once was, or so I thought, The shadow whispers in reassurance, "Shhh, there is nothing more to say" And with eyes wide in fear and a heart bearing knowledge, The voice of reason within responds, "But there is so much left to do". © 2011 Norie C |
