Hazy Recollections

Hazy Recollections

A Poem by flowetry07

It’s not just your arms, no longer stopping my body from shivering, that I miss,

It’s not only your eyes boring into the deep crevices of my soul,

My heart still beats to the memory of your heart’s tempo.

My lips still tingle in anticipation of meeting yours.

When the tears start to fall from my eyes without warning, I know

That even when I feel empty

I am still full of the pieces you left behind.

To be quite honest, I found the poem incredibly cheesy initially. You clearly have a really powerful emotion that you're trying to convey and I can tell that you have a good grasp of the beauty of the English language, but it's just not being portrayed through this work. HOWEVER, I am absolutely infatuated with the last two lines, they couldn't be anymore perfect.

Thank you very much for your review.
Remnants of once glorious romance. We write to preserve those stolen moments. And this one reflects the pain of a love which no longer exists.

Amazing description gave life to the words in the poem. I like the flow of thoughts and the desire in your words. It is true. Pieces of people we allowed in. Stay with us forever. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thanks for the feedback and I absolutely agree.
I love the ending realization, "That even when I feel empty
I am still full of the pieces you left behind."

You poured your heart out when you wrote this, and it is truly beautiful.

Amazing expression of emotion. This is a strong and heartfelt poem.
