A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach

A Poem by Natasha Austin

Feeling gritty little pieces of earth
In my toes, soothing and cool
A pleasant distraction from the
Overbearing rays of light on my skin
The noise from the tykes at play
Float into my ears,
Screams, squeals, and shrieks of delight
Bombard my head
Intruding on my thoughts
As in the distance a busy blue country
With its white billowy peaks
Insist on invading the sand
Creating thick and treasure laden mud
While the wind lays gentle hands
Along my back and hair
Drinking the lemonade designed especially for this
I close my novel and these eyes
And let nature speak to my soul
