A Poem by Natasha Austin

Another one there waiting for me
I frown a sigh and wonder what lies there today
More lies and deception and mockery
I don't need
Wanting to ignore but curious as felines are
I tear the lovely wrapping with expectation
Lies and more deceit
Yes, as I thought
Darling, trust me
It will be better this time
Take me back, I will come on home
blah blah blah, again, yet again
Before the ritual call that will never come, to cancel the date
And make the promise null
I squelch the hope of a new thing
Forever setting free the poisonous paper
Straight to File 13
In the garbage where it belongs
