I lay on the edge but I didn't leap.

I lay on the edge but I didn't leap.

A Poem by Deepshikha

I watch the grey streaked clouds as they pass by;
I feel the grass sprout under my bare feet;
And though I am alive I haven’t yet tried---
To lie on the edge and dare a leap.

watchful mindful peaceful contented seat
butterfly watching while shedding her wings
oxen neighing braying strict to the beat
hunted anguished mindless detested things

I toe the edge, thinking of fallen kings;
Nearly falling over, but stopped before it all;
So I was crushed under rings upon rings---
Of things washing over, of things I’ve called.

never leaving comfort rather pleasant
tortured princess not a temered peasant

I lay on the edge but I didn't leap.
