You Don't Exist

You Don't Exist

A Poem by Deepshikha
"

I can pray all I want. You're not going to answer. At least we know when Mother Earth is angry. You're just there.

"
Please don't
leave me here.
Give me something
So that I know you're
Watching me.
They say you
know all.
That you are
the one
and only.
I'd like one sign,
one simple, little
sign.
Something to say,
My Child,
I do watch over you.
I do care.
I want you to be happy.
I want you to love me as yourself.

But yes.
Of course.
You don't exist.
No one knows all;
no one can know all.
No matter how
omnipotent,
omnipresent,
exhaled.
I know I can pray,
I know I can profess
my faith day and night.
I know nothing will happen.
I know you won't even pause
from your 'heavenly
duties' to even
listen.

Maybe I'll pray to Mother Earth instead.

NOT my best work. More of a poetic rant.

I will have to say that this took an immense amount of courage to write.
Your words are full of conviction. I read this poem and got a sense of apathy
from your ideas, but somehow the emotions hit like a wrecking ball. Your
opinions here may not be the most popular on this site in this piece, but
I feel it is necessary for a person to find their own way in life. From the looks
of your writings, you seem to have already found a strong sense of self.
This poem is evidence of a person who is seeking answers to life's questions. I am not worried about you being infected at all by the Mass Minded Syndrome.

I don't think this sounds much like a rant at all. Contrariwise, it feels pained. Most people are raised to believe in some sort of God and when the day comes that they have seen or felt too much to believe, then what? Another thing I felt when reading this is that it's not all about experiencing negative aspects in life, but the human's inability to comprehend an omnipotent, omnipresent being. Correct me if I'm wrong but I take your Mother Earth references to mean natural disasters or effects of pollution or something similar.

Ironically, you write this poem to someone you very boldly claim does not exist. If it's worth writing, perhaps you hope the god will hear it, and you have potential to believe in one again some day?

No need to apologize for this in any way, I think it's something plenty of people can relate to.
