Can't See The Stars

Can't See The Stars

A Poem by Deepshikha
"

Nonconformity...and I can't see them. Conformity...and I still can't see them. So where are they?

"

Cry I shall naught,

Hope I have sought,

Fear I have quelled,

But silence lies bejeweled.

Pluck I have gotten,

Courage falling rotten,

Bravery in a pot,

So pain I will blot.

I can’t see the stars.

People drudging through velvet cars;

Not only do we slip,

But our dignity we rip.

No matter though, for I have seen

All there is to and all that has been.

Head up in Mars,

And I still can’t see the stars.

No more though do I stand tall,

Now sitting down, I do as they call;

No more hope, no more doubt,

Only smiles, out and out.

I’ve come and gone and gone and back,

And I have yet to see what I did lack;

But even after my soul’s bloody maul,

I still can’t try and still can’t see all.

Where are those bloody stars?
