To Catch A FireflyA Poem by DeepshikhaI saw a few lightning bugs on a walk today, and I also caught one or two. And I was reminded of my childhood days, when there were so many more. And inspired I became, and rushed home to write. And here it is now, a childhood delight. There! A flash of light! Did you see it? What is it? My dear, it's a firefly! Do you want one? A little star for your room? Go on then. Let us search. Look closely. Try the darkest place. There's always a twinkle there. Always a light. Did you see it? Yes! Now, carefuly walk to the spot. Quickly though, don't want to lose it. Oh dear. Is it gone? Well then, look again. There! Run towards it! Now, keep your eye in the floating spot. It blinked again! Now! Reach to it and snap it into your palm! Now open it, and let it play. It'll tickle, my dear, but let it explore your palm. Now gently, put it into this jar. Add some grass and leaves. Don't forget to drill a few small holes! See? It's right at home! Let's catch some more! Because at night, When they twinkle their little stars, They'll guide you through your dreams. © 2008 DeepshikhaAuthor's Note
