Boredom

Boredom

A Chapter by Deepshikha
"

Aika realizes where Mizuki might be. And it ain't happy.

“Ugg,” I cried. “I’m soo bored,”

Me and Hinata were sitting in my room, reading.

“Bored? How can you be reading and be bored?” She asked, looking up from her book.

“Well, for one thing, Mizuki ran off with Itachi, Naruto is training with Jiraya, Lee is…somewhat dead, Neji is training a bit too much, and ugg, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but even Sakura is hooked up with Tsunade-sama.”

“Oh.” She went back to her book then abruptly looked up. “Did you say Mizuki ran off with Itachi?”

Oh. Had I really said that? This phenomenon I was experiencing- the one where I just knew stuff- was growing, and sometimes I felt like I would know everything if I concentrated enough. But the scroll I had found a few months ago said nothing about this, and I would never rest in peace until I knew what all this Air stuff was about.

“Um, Aika-chan?” Hinata said.

“Oh, uh, huh?”

“How did you know that about Mizuki? And now that I’ve thinking about it, I haven’t seen her forever.”

“I don’t know. You know that thing I told you about once?”

“Like how you just know stuff?”

“Yeah. Like that.”

“Oh. But Ai-chan,”

“Mmm?”

“You should really tell someone about this.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Maybe someone could help you, then.”

“I can’t Hina-chan. And if I could, who would I tell? I couldn’t tell Neji, ‘cause he’d force me to teach him all that. I can’t tell my mother, because she would get so worried. And I especially can’t tell Hiashi-sama.”

“Oh,” Hinata sighed.

“But I have told you. You’re the only one that knows, Hina-chan.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

We fell silent for a while, and went back to our books.

Soon though, I heard Neji come up the stairs. I had to tell him what I had said about Mizuki.

Poor Neji, he loved Mizuki more than his own life.

And she just left him to worry.

“Neji?” I knocked on his door.

“Yes?” He called.

“Can I come in?”

“Come in.”

I walked into his room, which was unusually clean, especially for someone his age. He was sitting on the bed, a large scroll rolled out in front of him.

I sat down on the edge of it.

“How’d it go?” I asked him. He had been searching for Mizuki for a few days now, and well, he didn’t seem like he was going to run out of energy soon.

“Oh.”

I looked at him. He seemed so sad these days.

“We me a few villagers in a town north of Konoha who said they saw her passing by a few days ago.”

“Really?”

“Yes. But I now think that this will be fruitless.”

“Don’t give up Neji. Besides, I think I know something about where she would be.”
His face brightened up. “Really?”

I nodded. “You know I have a tendency to blurt out things that I didn’t know I knew and that are secrets half the time?”

“Yes, what about it?”

“When I was talking to Hina-chan I just blurted something out that I don’t think can possibly be true.”

“What, Aika?”

“I said, ‘Mizuki ran off with Itachi.’”

Neji looked at me. “What?”

“Yes. And I think it is true.”

“You can’t possibly mean Itachi Uchiha. The one who joined Akatsuki. The one who tried to kill Naruto. The murderer of the entire Uchiha clan.”

“I think so.”

“Aika, do you know what this means?” I saw tears in his eyes.

That was a first.

“Mizuki is never coming back, is she?”

He nodded.

I felt tears well up in my own eyes.

“Neji,” I whispered. “I’ll leave you to yourself for a while. I’ll be in my room, with Hinata.”

He nodded. “Thanks Aika.”

“I’m your sister. What are we for?”

He gave a weak chuckle. “Good night.”

“Good night.”

I walked out and shut the door.

Outside, Hinata was standing, waiting.

“I heard it all,” She whispered.

I nodded solemnly.

“Poor Kiba,” she whispered.

“Oh, Hinata!” I threw my arms around her.

She hugged back. “I can’t believe Mizuki, out of all people, would do such a thing.”

“I can’t believe that she would randomly run after Itachi. You don’t suppose…”

“Suppose what?” We walked back into my bed room.

“That she mistook Itachi for Sasuke and ran after him and he killed her because he thought she was annoying or forced her to become Akatsuki’s guinea pig  and so she’s probably being operated on right now or being made into a puppet.” I sucked in a breath.

“I hope not,” Hinata whispered as we climbed into bed. “I really don’t.”

And despite all our troubles, we were asleep in minutes.
