The Other World

A Chapter by Deepshikha
"

Enjoy...sigh...

"

Jaya, what are you doing?” asked Aron after he finally caught up with me. He grabbed me and looked truly worried.

I must get to the Song.” I said still in my stupor. “I must!”

What song?”

That, the one that calls to me!”

Jaya, if it means that much to you, then lead the way.”

And I ran with Aron following until we got out of the forest. I saw a big castle and I started to run to it. The land around me was bustling with people. We were in some sort of marketplace and people were buying food and other goods. There were carriages all around us. Some carrying goods and some people. There were shops and stalls every where and the castle was now out of sight.

Jaya,” asked Aron, “are you sure that this is the right place? I can't hear any type of song, just the hustle of people.”

Aron, I still hear it, and you and the Song are all I can here.”

Do you know at all where it's coming from?”

The castle. I know it. But the song is fading. And before it fades completely, I must get to it!” And I collapsed to my knees and started crying.

Oh Jaya,” Aron took me into his arms, got me up onto my feet, and said, “Hold on to me. Close your eyes and focus on the song and tell me where to go.”

I closed my eyes and the song became clearer to me. “It's this way.” I grabbed his hand and led him through the marketplace with my eyes still closed.

And after narrowly avoiding many disastrous events, we finally got out of the marketplace and I opened my eyes to the main walk of the castle.

It coming from there.” I said pointing to one of the highest towers.

But how do we get there?”

I don't know Aron.” I said exasperated. Then I started chanting in the strange language the song was in and we slowly lifted from the ground. “Aron,” I said, “Hold on to me.”

What is going on here?” Aron grabbed onto me and me lifted into the air. We reached the tower and landed gracefully on the balcony of the room. “Oh, wow,” I said gazing at the room around me. It was furnished in many shades of green, with the occasional spot of brown or gold. There was a huge canopy bed that looked like a vine bed. The chests and side tables were green on top, brown on the bottom making it look like a forest. As out eyes got used to the dim golden light, we saw a figure near the window closest to us. And that where the song was coming from. “Aron, she is the song!”

She IS the song? Jaya, what are you talking about?”

I ignored Aron and slowly went up to the figure. And I could see as I got closer, that the figure was a woman. The Song she was singing was sad, but hauntingly beautiful. When she finished, the words of the song still in me, I asked her, “Jaela ne Narm ya Alva?”

She gazed at me and slowly said, “Alva.”

In her gaze was much power, much greatness, but also tears, so I carefully asked her, “Kal'ar yan?”

She turned away and looked out at the sky, and I asked her again, “Kal'ar yan?”

She looked at me, tears streaming down her eyes, and softly said, “Yan Ayan.”
