Extinguish me from this.A Poem by DeepshikhaA poem written using only words found in Lucie Brock-Broido's poems "A Girl Ago" and "Carnivorous." Written as part of a class assignment.
God, milkweed, rose milk;
I, ink, flickering, above and Strange. Ocean salt, carnall wish, I, saying we might speak, Of juniper, or metal, blinking, like fireflies, the world in passing. The night, hoarding sky, counting hour, hour, Life. An intemperate wish, woods of wisteria, feeding on burrs, mouth quickens, in unison with wrong hearts. Rustling branch. Velvet kindling. Chance, jammed wrong; nothing said. Extinguish me from this.
