stagnantA Poem by Deepshikhareflection.i am stagnant water-- in a dark cove, surrounded by ancient, wise guardians, waiting under rolling waves of fog, nestled between years of fallen foliage. i am dark and murky, still waters covered in a blanket of green --a blanket thick and deep, a shroud stitched of decay. i do not know how far the waters go --nor am i willing to try. the heavy stench of murkiness pervades my body and i am unwilling to take a chance. i am more still than the earth, more sheltered than a child; i am darkness liquefied, death materialized; if you fall in, you may never come out. nothing stirs, nothing moves, anything that may come will be lost-- drowned-- gone-- taken by still, murky, stagnant waters.
