Days of the WeekA Story by NMHWriting Prompt- Describe each day of the week as if it was a person.Monday: She’s that girl nobody wants to talk to and the truth is she doesn’t want to talk to you either. She has little regard for hygiene, her clothing smells like mold and you’re pretty sure you’ve seen her picking her nose and eating whatever she pulled out. Her hair is greasy at the roots, but frizzy at the ends, barely looks washed and usually knotted in a bun on top of her head. You have no idea what color her eyes are because she never looks up, they’re always nailed to the ground when she walks by. When she speaks, her voice is so full of sadness you want to bash your head in. You know there is something wrong with her, maybe you should be interested in what’s happened in her life or how she got this way or maybe you should have an ounce of sympathy for her miserable state, but you don’t. All you really wish is that she wouldn’t come out into the light of day for other people to see. Tuesday: She’s anonymous, barely memorable. She has plain shoulder length mousy brown hair, her skin is dim, but clear and her eyes are a faded shade of blue. Her lips dip down at the edges making her have a constant look of sadness, but she smiles at every one she passes hoping to not draw attention to herself with her natural depressed expression. Her clothes match her boring personality and are often ill fitting, adding to her awkwardness. She barely speaks up, but when she does no one remembers what she said. You have no idea what she likes, what she does in her free time or who she is doing it with, and honestly you could care less. Wednesday: He’s a pot head. It’s not necessarily advertised, but everyone knows he is. He’s often wondering away from where he’s supposed to be. He maintains a laid back positive mood and always has something funny to say or some amusing story. He’s always so focused on the upcoming weekend that he doesn’t get anything done that’s productive. Mostly he just distracts you from staying on task, but that’s okay because being around him and his lackadaisical state of being is contagious. You don’t ever realize how much time you’ve wasted with him until he walks away. You end up spending the rest of the day in a rush trying to make up for the lost time, but you’re never mad about it because how can you get mad him. He’s Wednesday. Thursday: He’s on his sixth cup of coffee and it’s not even noon yet. He gets more done in a morning than you do all week. He’s always dressed better than the occasion calls for. When he talks to you, he says all the right things to make it seem like he’s interested in what you have to say, but when you try to respond he cuts you off and walks away ending the conversation, but you’re not even sure if it started. You dread having to ever ask him a question because he always makes you feel like it’s such a huge deal that you’ve interrupted him and then he makes you feel stupid for asking. He talks so fast, you’re not sure why you even bothered because you didn’t catch most of what he said. You were surprised to find out he has a girlfriend. You can’t comprehend how any woman could put up with his poppas attitude. You wondered for a long time if she was even real, but you spotted a woman dropping him off the other day when his car was in the shop. You kind of wish you could have gotten a better look at her. He’s so damn good at everything, but you can’t even congratulate him on his success because he’s so full of himself. You admire his accomplishments, but ultimately you just think he’s a jerk. Friday: She’s the girl in the know. She’s knows everything about everyone and anything that’s going on fun and exciting. She’s got an edgy haircut, dresses a little young for her age and always wears shoes that are inappropriate. You’ve even heard rumors about her sleeping around. But none of that seems to bother anyone because she’s just so much fun to be around. She’s the life of the party and everyone wants to be her friend. Saturday He always looks a little hung over, but even so he’s usually in a pretty good mood. Don’t ever make plans with him too early in the morning. He’s more of a brunch kind of guy and you better always have some coffee on hand if you want to have any sort of coherent conversation with him. The only clothing in his wardrobe consists of frayed cargo shorts, band t-shirts and flip flops. At least that’s what you assume since you’ve never seen him in anything else. His chestnut colored hair always looks like it’s two weeks past needing a haircut and you’ve never seen him without some stubble. But he’s easy going and always down for whatever. To him it’s always five o’clock somewhere. Sunday She always tries too hard. Her hair is always overdone, she wears too much makeup and she doesn’t understand the meaning of less is more. She’s always the first one to volunteer for just about anything. She loves to make big plans, but rarely can follow through on her promises leaving the work to everyone else. She frustrates easily and gives up to quickly. You want to like her because she always seems to have so much energy and a positive attitude, but eventually nothing lives up to her expectations or how she envisioned. This turns her into a raging b***h. Everyone just talks about her behind her back and you want to feel bad about it, but then you don’t because you know eventually she’ll turn on you too. © 2014 NMH |
