Dance Fly Live. Defy Gravity.

Dance Fly Live. Defy Gravity.

A Poem by Natasha Ashway
"

Dance, Fly, Live! Expressing my passion for freedom.

"

I listen to their voices;
I’m tuned into the choices people make
Their animated decisions to live or to die walk on around me;
Their thoughts take to flight in every step they take

The tide moves slowly, flows fast;
They trudge or hurry past as I pause to watch, to think …

“Fly!”

The dismal mob goes
Thud … thud … thud
Footsteps beat the drum, beat the earth
Call for death,

And who am I to judge the ones

who cry for love as they hate?
Who am I to adore the ones

who don’t pray to a god for their fates?
Who am I to know that my world

will only come to an end when my music stops?
I suppose my certainty lies in the fact that I am existing …

as opposed to not,

I speak to stir the troubled water;
I cause steps to falter at this chance
I draw them out of the churning circles;
I chant the wise man’s song and make my steps its dance

The rhythm channels passion,
Spinning life into motion, making even silence a stance …

“Dance!”

The chagrined mass goes
No … no … no?
Shake their fists, shield their ears
Choose their fears?

Ask who am I to think in ways that

trip people up and make them fall?
Who am I to say ‘hey, you’d better dance to this

or just not dance at all?'
Who am I to reach to pull them out of

the revolving door of a re-incarnating void?

I am a soul mate, a friend, a lover,

and I am an echo of the choice to …

“Live!”

When we are far away and lonely, all we have to do is listen to the echo on the wind to guide our steps. Lovely.

beautiful message, wonderfully written.

"And who am I to judge the ones

who cry for love as they hate? "

your words offer a profundity that was inspiring, and a hope that was a joy to read. and i like how you stated that you can't force your thoughts on others, even though it's obvious that you think them mad to live the way they do, without joy and music, and happiness.

i liked this a lot. it moved me :)

great job
