Our love is as rocky as the grand canyon
But you always seem
To look at me and tell me you love me
You held me on that one moon lit night. 
It was just past midnight.
The ball had dropped along with my heart.
I thought I lost you. 
I thought you were done.
When you left that night,
I thought it was the last time I would ever see you
And for the first time that year, 
My heart broke.
Shattered into a million pieces.
A mess I thought I could never clean up.

But it was only the next day,
You told me you never would go away
You told me you love me
And you took my tears away
The shattered pieces of my heart seemed to shiver at their edges
Drawn back together like magnets
As they slid back in to a perfect shape 
But the pieces grew wider, longer, and stronger
Pulling back together to make a place big enough to contain the love I had then and room left over for the love that is still growing. 

I smile at you now. Thankful for everyday that you decide to spend with me.
For we are very different people. I don't know what it's like to go a day without pain.
And you have always experienced the rain.
 Rain inside your head, 
showering out the true strength of family love.
 Not really knowing what love was until just a short year ago. And craving the feeling ever since.
 And me? Well that story is to long. It may take an eternity or three.
