Sinking Pillow

Sinking Pillow

A Poem by nathan brandon

Every restless night
she cries as silent as possible
holding every tear
whimpering in fear
praying to God
that her husband doesn't hear

And though she is scared
for her very own life
she just keeps trying
to be the perfect wife

But she only keeps thinking
Thinking how
How could she be so stupid
how could she allow
him to keep on drinking
His brain keeps shrinking
from all of the beers
Her pillow is sinking
in all of her tears

But it's not her fault
She fell in love
with a different man
before he changed
before the drinking began
As she only keeps thinking
thinking why
why she never ran
Why does she just stand by
as his brain keeps shrinking
from all of the beers
as her pillow keeps sinking
in all of her tears
