Fighting for Presence

Fighting for Presence

A Poem by natfrances

Let’s wade these tides crashing ‘round.
But gotta keep two feet on this hallow ground.

So I can just make out your eyes
(Ignore the voices as they stir uncertain lies)
Features august against that haze
(Like lions breath contained)
We can contemplate the latter, but the minds’ a maze

Of ghosts. Of past. Of future.

So we wade.

Current tempts me closer but ahead ’s a deep abyss.
Nothing floats forever, they say.
Crash, no hold steady. Are we ever ready?
Just here and now. Here me out.

Let’s wade these tides crashing ‘round.
But gotta keep two feet on this hallow ground.
