Jazz and Flowers

Jazz and Flowers

A Poem by MrMojoRisin

I look into my mirror and see your face
My mirror cracked in the creases of your beaten face
Smudges of fingertips reaching in
To pull you out into the world like a new-born love
Out of the womb of depression
Of down-trodden battery of the mind
I try to wipe clean the bruises on your beautiful brain
And the mirror cracks again
Shrinking the memory of your flawless face
As you look distantly into my waking eyes
I step back and you wave
Like a flower to a bee as he flies home to his wife
And as he does the flower cries a single petal
Falling gracefully on the wind
And the wind is there and the bee is not
To pick up the petal and dance with the flower
I listen to jazz and hear your thoughts
In the beat bar I surf the sax into the infinite cosmos of your mind
And there I learn, laugh and listen
To the sweet melody of your unique intelligence
As the world beholds the beauty of van Gogh
The timeless melody of Mozart
So too I marvel in the heavenly harmony
Of your thoughts, passions, and demons
As the song ends I hold you in every note
Until the still silence steals your soul
And the wind knocks the mirror to the floor
