dinner.

dinner.

A Poem by Natalie

She smiled,

he laughed,

she ate,

he talked.

Her smile,

too wide,

his eyes,

too distant.

Her hand

was cold

but his

were ice.

Her mind

adrift,

and his

afloat.

Together,

they laughed,

they ate,

they talked.

Together,

they thought

about

a stranger.

The word is aesthetically pleasing.
This is the true capture of the phrase "in between two worlds".
Great work.

The ending caught me, I mean it made me think about the presence of 'stranger', who could it be?
I like the structure that you have created, it jerk suddenly in the end. Good work, my friend.

Wah...the format of the writing really contributes a lot to the overall setting/happenings in the poem. The words you comparing words you used, such as, "cold" and "ice" really worked together to give the reader the "feeling" haha, keep it up! I really enjoyed this one!

The thinking of strangers can be a spice and the thinking of strangers can be a vice - one can enhance, the other can destroy. I like to think this is a prelude so Im taking the former from this - thank you for sharing Natalie.

I like the place you described where two wanted something else and try to enjoy a meal and laughter together. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Amazing how close yet disconnected two people can be.
You've captured that very nicely here.
