I Am

I Am

A Poem by Nat Sav

"I am," I start.
But I am no longer.
I am not who I was, I am not who I want to be.
I am not where I should be.
I am not me.
"I am," I start.
But I am no longer.
I am not going or staying, nor am I running or racing.
I am not you, I am not her.
I am not me.
"I am," I start.
But I am no longer.
I am stuck between who I was and who I want to be.
I am trying, I am crying, I am dying.
I am waiting, pacing, struggling.
"I am," I start.
I am not me, but I am becoming me.
