Flowers Are Ugly

Flowers Are Ugly

A Poem by Narmeen

You welcomed me to your flower-clad home,
But offered no chair, no space of my own.
Left to linger beneath the rain’s cold touch,
A guest unclaimed, desiring too much.

I marveled at the walls you raised,
A fortress built to be endlessly praised.
Thick as stone, and ceilings high,
Yet hollow within a soulless sky.

Still, I drowned in longing’s tide,
Yearning to stand by your empty side.
For even in shadows, I wished to roam,
A stranger craving your soulless home.
