The Fog Came In

The Fog Came In

A Poem by N.A.
"

eh

"

The sky is black and blue

The city is surrounded by

a glowing halo of s**t

And you’re lost forever

out there

in it

The fog came in

And I thought

I would see you again

of course that’s dumb

caring hurts too much

and you’re weak

I said, “you’re weak.”

It’s you’re week

it makes me sick

But every girl wants lace and bells

I don’t want any of that s**t

And you want a girl, not a mess

our time was short and cold

I wish every winter it’d get warm

I left the window closed

The fog came in

faces are crinkled

and worn

water drips in

The paper

wrinkled again

And I know it’s done

That’s why these photos

aren’t in albums

Dancing when we’re bored and cold

sleeping in the parking lot

afraid of slipping on ice again

Got to be at work at six

foggy roads

stiff couches

ugly carpet

bony shins

That’s how it begins

The fog came in

Slowly, gently

keeping the life in

making it wilted and malnourished

Your embrace was weak

but you were decent company

But you were

But we were

But I was

not girl enough

I was not girl enough

I was not girl enough
