Breaking Light

Breaking Light

A Poem by N.A.

Broken glass
at the bottom of your feet
nobody sees but me
you chucked your beer into the darkness
The darkness is not all I see

It’s dying and it’s living

perfectly intertwining
with the dirt you can see
All the specs of
greed

We’re dying and we’re living
We’re hiding because we know it
Running makes it worse

I have a growing suspicion
that death is an illusion
and I am dreaming
but pain is never quite asleep
broken pieces cut through
the dream

Digging trenches in the desert
the sky is dark but shining
opening it’s eyes
it can see your bodies start to rot

I can taste myself rotting
they are lost

Breaking light
So you can see
the silhouette of bodies breaking
for nothing
and the shapes aren’t so new
you’ve seen them folding before
inside you

The secret you keep
is making you ugly

Don’t catch me
