Downtown.

Downtown.

A Poem by naomi marie
"

A song I wrote last summer. True story.

"
I was walkin downtown
lookin
for any place to kill my time
bummin
cigarettes to every homeless man i'd find
cause theyve been the best company i've had
in quite a while.
one man,
he said,

Hey pretty lady.
Whats your name?
Hey pretty lady,
You're too damn fine
to be walkin around these city streets
In dirty, naked feet like mine.

Well I put out my hand to shake
And he left his at his side
I said
You must have quite a tale to tell
For all of your pride
And he just
Nodded his head
And stared me
Straight in my blue eyes
And he said "you could not imagine my life"...
And I could not fathom the pain that he had (had) to carry all his life.
When he said

Hey pretty lady.
Whats your name?
Hey pretty lady,
You're too damn fine
To be walkin around these city streets
In dirty, naked feet like mine.

Now I know I've been wasting away
Waiting for Coltrane's 'Blue Train' to roll on by.

Hey pretty lady.
Whats your name?
Hey pretty lady,
You're too damn fine
To be walkin around these city streets
In dirty, naked feet like mine.
