Poetry Exercise #1, Take 4
A Poem by Naomi Bloom
A poem modeled after William Carlos Williams' poem The Red Wheelbarrow.
so much depends upon
a hazelnut brown stick
sensitive ears
like a dog’s
piercing eyes above
a story-telling posture
A black set of tails
holding a man

Author's Note
|
A writing exercise for a poetry class.
We wrote with this template in mind, a poem by William Carlos Williams:
so much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens.
This is the fourth of my many attempts to imitate this form.
This particular attempt is also a riddle. If you feel smart, try to guess what I am describing in this poem.
