Certain Uncertainty

"To regret, and to love again"

There are things in life that remain uncertain-
Like a heart that was whole but then breaks when given.
Is it worth the sting to love and regret?
Is it worth the sting to love and forget?

To love and be loved - you had it all
Then you sit & wonder - was it worth the fall?
You poured your heart out - now what's left of this?
A life of anguish that stole your bliss.

But I tell you this - the heart does break
Yet it does not stop loving for your own sake
Piece by piece it shatters but it's never dead
And will always remain silent for things unsaid.

You will stumble and fall for the wrong people ahead
But take this as a journey you would never forget
There are scars - there are aches but darling be strong
Because your heart is molded until the right one comes along.

Puts one in mind of the old saying that it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. You can feel the pain in this one, but thankfully there is no despair. The speaker is bloodied but keeping the faith. That's the only way things will get better.

I agree with you wholly, because I've been there and done that enough times to know you know what you're talking about, too … I relate with every line and verse, and sad as it is, it's the way we learn, grow, and become worthy and prepared for that right one to come along.
Will they ever? One can only prepare, hope, and dream.

i think Shakespeare said it best..."it is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all."
I have had plenty of the "come and gone" but wouldn't really trade any of the experiences.
I relate to this...in first line I think you meant "remain"---
I really like the play on words with the title.
