We All Fear

 

 

Christians you’re not the first to fear

Listen children and you will hear

Peter had doubts and fear as we do

As he walked with the Messiah so true

 

 

Doubt fills hearts at Satan’s request

Hold tight to Jesus and pass the test

God stands ready to calm our fears

Jesus wipes away all our tears

 

 

On water Jesus walked that day

Swirling water brought fish his way

In homage, they bowed at His feet

We’ll fill up baskets for all to eat

 

 

Across the waves, His feet trod

Most disciples saw this as odd

Not Peter, he held out his hand

Way, he knew to the Promise Land

 

 

Then Peter’s faith gave way to fear

Even though, his Savior stood near

Peter cried out as waves swirled round

Save me Lord, I’ll surely drown.

 

 

Jesus smiled, held out His hand.

You are the rock, My Father planned.

We’ll build a church that will not collapse

My sheep will be saved, from Satan’s traps

 

 

Yes, Peter held the hand of God

Made him strong so his feet would trod

Miles and miles for the souls of men

He stands at the gates to usher us in

 

 

Peter denied Jesus not once, but thrice

As the c**k crowed, his heart froze to ice

Peter cried, and beat his breast that day

Jesus hung on the Cross, Peter’s sin to pay

 

 

Peter knew Jesus was God’s Son

Still he denied God’s Holy One

Jesus forgave Peter’s doubt and fear

As Peter repented crying many a tear

 

 

Humanity revealed in Peter’s doubt

We fear because Satan roams about

Peter’s doubt and fear, tells us true

Jesus came here, for me and for you

 

 

Jesus went to the Cross, our souls to save

Gave His life and suffered the grave

Our Savior knew well our doubts and fears

Forgives all our sins for all of our years

 

 

Fear sometimes fills the heart and soul

Take God’s hand, fear won’t take control

Saint Peter feared, though God stood near

Christians, you’re not the first to fear
