Our Father

Our Father

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

OUR FATHER

Our Father who art in heaven

Jesus taught us to pray in this way

For God is the one to whom we should pray

To honor His Father is first and foremost

Our prayer life is guided through the Holy Ghost

We acknowledge God as Father of all

Our Father is waiting for His children's call

Who tends us and loves us our whole lives through

By His Son Jesus whose faithful and true

Hallowed be thy name

To keep God's name holy in our hearts always

We are to honor Him all of our days

Never speak out using God's name in vain

We'll keep our souls blameless and without stain

We speak in a reverent, loving tone

Knowing we'll reap the harvest we've sown

To our Father above, praise to the great I am

Through Jesus Christ, God's sacrificial lamb

Thy Kingdom come

From Everlasting to Everlasting, a Kingdom to share

Jesus laid down His life, and our sins He did bear

God sent us His Son as an offering for sin

He opens His arms and beckons us in

Thy Kingdom of Light is waiting above

We'll share in God's Kingdom and bask in His Love

Evil is conquered and the battle is won

For all who have faith in God's only Son

Thy Will be done

God's Will for His children is to join Him above

To share with others all of His Love

To live forever in His Golden Light

And always keeps Jesus focused in sight

It's God's Will that we all take a stand

We must spread the Gospel throughout the land

Tell others of Christ's Redeeming Love

Tell of the Love that came down from above

On earth as it is in Heaven

God's Love came to earth

A brilliant star announced His birth

Manifested in Jesus God's only Son

To tell us He is God's Holy One

From Heaven to earth, a Kingdom someday

On Calvary's Cross, our sins washed away

Jesus brought salvation to one and to all

Through Him we'll stand, not stumble or fall

Give us this day our daily bread

The bread of life came to one and all

Not in a palace, but in an animal stall

As a babe in a manger one Christmas night

God sent us all the One True Light

A man without sin to suffer and die

Destroying forever the evil one's lie

Bringing God's children a life renewed

He's the Bread from Heaven, God's Holy Food

And forgive us our trespasses

We repent and our Father forgives us our sin

We open our hearts and Jesus comes in

Forgiven, forgotten, erased from God's mind

A Savior so loving, tender and kind

Our hearts are filled with God's Spirit of Love

God's Heart came down in the form of a dove

Seeking those in darkness, afraid and unsure

Making us clean, redeemed and so pure

As we forgive others who trespass against us

We expect forgiveness when we call out His name

He forgives our enemies, like us just the same

But do we forgive others, or hold it inside?

Forgive, like Jesus, our Redeeming Guide

A trespass held can only bring loss

For Jesus died on Calvary's Cross

So that Brothers and Sisters could forgive from within

And make clean our hearts, free us from sin

And lead us not into temptation

Satan puts temptation along the pathways of life

Leading God's children into many a strife

Guiding us places where we will stumble and fall

Hold tight to Jesus; never allow Satan's thrall

God's protection is ours when we pray

Listen for His still small voice each day

Guiding us away from the temptations of sin

To His Kingdom of Love he welcomes us in

 But deliver us from evil

Evil stands watching for us to fall

But we have one who lives in us all

Be not deceived by the author of sin

Taking advantage of our weakness within

Pray for protection from the evil one

Evil can't exist in the Light of the Son

Satan attacks when we least expect

But Jesus has conquered this evil sect

For Thine is the Kingdom

The Kingdom of God was created with care

Our Heavenly Father will always be there

For all who turn from darkness, embracing the Light

Jesus will keep His children in sight

For we are the Kingdom because of God's Love

And help build the Kingdom brought down from above

Made pure from our sins through Christ's own blood

Swallowing Satan and his evil flood

The Power and the Glory

Our power comes from our faith and love

Joining our Savior who was sent from above

Bringing God glory with a faithful heart

Bringing God's children a fresh new start

Jesus is the Power and Glory we'll see

Waiting in heaven  for you and for me

Sitting at God's Righteous Right Hand

Christians, give God glory by taking a stand

Forever and ever

God's love is forever, but it is not blind

Knock, it will be opened, seek and you will find

We must ask forgiveness from Jesus His Son

Eternal Life's the reward when our battle is won

Forever and ever says it all

For those who answer God's heartfelt call

Those who tell of His unending love

Will live eternally in Heaven above

Amen!

God in His heaven, smiles on us today

Because we loved Him enough to pray

Each time God hears this Amen voiced

With Him, the heavenly powers rejoice

So speak your Amen strong and loud

When you see Jesus coming in the clouds

Jesus will call his children home on that day

Rapture me forever, oh Lord I pray

Amen!  Amen!  Amen!
