Helios' SonA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Helios’ Son Helios’ sons were Titans by birth One endowed with scientific worth In his brothers’ hearts jealousy burned Because of scientific things he’d learned Lifted to an exalted position Helios’ son would feel haughty sedition His scientific mind over shadowed all Carried so high, soon he will fall Carried by servants this Titan fair Son of the Sun god, sure to be Helios’ heir Set apart from his brothers, with a mind so keen Spurred hatred by the others, making them mean Four plotted together to take Tenages’ life They would kill him, but not with a knife With bare hands they beat him to death Brothers watched Tenages draw his last breath Death came to Tenages, by his brothers hands All scattered after the deed to foreign lands Tenages now lays cold in his grave Because of the knowledge his brothers craved Jealousy led to murder scattering a brood Angry brothers’ actions were crude Even the sun god did not know Just how far his sons would go
