Chocolate ShootoutA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Chocolate Shootout Inside the chocolate factory I took my paint gun Loaded it with chocolate Now I’ll have some fun Millie hid in the back I didn’t see her there Christina on the other side My brain told me to beware My name is Candy … and I didn’t have a prayer I knew in that moment Chocolate fudge I would wear Taking careful aim They had me in their sights Heard all those guns a clicking Someone turned out the lights I wiped at my eyes Opened my mouth to yell Heard Christina’s loaded weapon Chocolate really tasted swell I couldn’t get a shot off Chocolate flying through the air Bombarded in chocolate shells Their advantage was unfair Covered now in chocolate I’m finger licking good Surrounded by the guard dogs In fear right where I stood Their growls turned to whimpers Pouncing they licked me clean We’re now friends forever Best dogs you’ve ever seen A strawberry dipped in chocolate I’m as sweet as can be Just a tasty morsel Is all those dogs could see
They wait for us each Friday After school by the door Bowing as I enter Drooling for some more One followed me home today He now guard only me Waiting for my next gunfight I’m his doggy treat you see
