Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku Fire and Ice

Fire burns orange hot

Ice freezes in shades of blue

Love hate rapport

Ice can kill fire

But dissolves in the attempt

No middle ground here

A battle of sorts

Fire and ice can’t coexist

All thing possible

Opposites attract

Needs the other to be whole

Fire and ice are wed

Fire joining with ice

In a marriage so to speak

And water is born

This was a wonderful piece so very well written. I like the way you ended this two extremes creating a middle ground. It reminds me of Robert Frost poem in a sense called Fire and Ice. This was just as brilliant in my opinion.

What a unique haiku love the above stanza with its marriage to produce water concept
a wonderful string haiku for the Fire and Ice Contest~Thanks for sharing

For Legion, fire is 1 syllable by definition, however I say it with 2 syllables as most
Kentuckians I know say it as 2 count~ and the old vampire is 2 count, but also
I say that as a 3 count lol, but rules do apply when writing haikus~ Nancy has it right as 1 count!

Fire - one or two syllables? Depends on the dialect I suppose. Interesting writes.
