A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Gossip

Rumors

Turns smiles into frowns

Causing more pain where none should be

Misspoken

Tongues wagging in all directions

Tattle-tattle breaking hearts

Your line: Causing pain where none should be
is only 7 syllables and must be 8.

Your line: Turns smiles into frowns
should be counted as six because "smiles" is a two-syllabled word, but
I would leave it as you wrote it since the dictionary lists the word as one syllable.

You certainly said it all... gossip may make some feel good but hurts those who are talked bout... it is pointless and trashy. Nice job.

"Tongues wagging in all directions

Tattle-tattle breaking hearts"

Oh how true is this! That old adage "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is a lie!

Words are very powerful indeed and can cause so much pain if not spoken carefully. Once said, they can never be taken back! Oh how I dislike gossips!

Loved this well crafted poem! ~ Helena
