Haiku Cataract Blindness
Author can’t write when
Cataracts cover both eyes
It’s like being blind
There’s no darkness here
Looking through a waterfall
All things hazy white
Blindness in daylight
Can see better in the dark
Sunglasses to write
Cannot see to drive
Must be chauffeured everywhere
In daylight and dark
Day of surgery comes
It’s amazing, I can see
If I close one eye
I can see them now
A grandmother’s dream
Grandchildren’s faces
Another three months
Cataract is finally ripe
Back to surgery
Colors are vivid
Grass is green instead of gray
Flowers are amazing
Can see with both eyes
In sunshine and in the rain
Moon and stars, I see
Grandson’s baseball game
I can see his gleeful face
When he hits homeruns
Granddaughter’s blue eyes
Sparkling as she cheerleads
I can hear and see
Oldest grandson too
Keep tabs when he’s a courting
His grandma see’s all
