Nightmare Insanity

I feel darkness: Nightmares out of control

Through the night silent screams heard in my mind

Screams rip open my heart: Tears at my soul

In my insanity nurses are kind

Nightmare call in the night

Whispering its hot breath

Caught in the moment

Terrified of the night

I cry too often in the daylight hours

Memories of my night of dreams reoccur

My heart lay open on the doctor’s couch

I feel the darkness: Nightmares here again

Nightmares and being insane. A scary thought. Did good

A nightmare is never a very good companion at night. It's a traitor. It does nothing but threatens and takes control over a helpless soul. Indeed, it belongs to the darkness.

The first stanza really made me laugh, especially with the line, "In my insanity nurses are kind."

LOL. Those poor white uniform-clad gentlewomen with TLC for all and sundry entering through

the hospital doors. Maybe, you used the word nightmare once too often.

Nancy, lines one and three in stanza one must rhyme to fit the abab pattern of that stanza. I would think "again" could easily be changed to something that rhymes with "soul."

Nightmares; dreams I wish to never encounter.
Well done!
