Haiku Welcoming SpringA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Haiku: Welcoming Spring Groundhog ventures out He foretells an early spring He sees no shadow Spring is in the air Green grass peeking through the snow Flowers soon will bloom Emerge from the den Mother bear and her two cubs Welcoming springtime Winter snows ended New flower shoots bursting forth Spring has come to stay Flower filled meadow Butterflies and bees flutter Spreading the pollen Hummingbirds flitter Wings rustling from bud to bud Tasting sweet nectar Bird’s construction straw Works feverishly through the day Laying eggs by night Mother Robin sits Nests filled with powder blue eggs Soon new mouths to feed Worms try hard to hide Become food for the nestlings Wide their gaping beaks Nestling’s test their wings Reluctantly leave the nest Learning how to fly © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
