Twilight WhispersA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Twilight Whispers
Twilight whispers calling in the night Dark Prince, my love only fears the light He awakes as the moon climbs high in the sky Longing to hear my human reply Whispering my name with his cold breath I call out; I’m hear awaiting my death Haunting whispers calling on my ear My blood pulses as they persevere Voices of many, willing my death Luring me closer to my final breath My thoughts filled with undead desire They’re leading me closer to my final hour He hushes their lust with his vampire mind Spill not her blood our hearts intertwined Blood lusting vampires back away into the night I’m under his protection, so they must take flight Lusting for blood is conquered through love He holds me tenderly like a newborn dove Even though his fangs have all the power His heart reveals love’s purest desire I can love and be loved while my heart still beats Blood lust has found its final defeat Together we’ll walk the day and the night Awaiting twilight to end our plight For a few brief moments in the twilight hour I’m one with the vampire, one with his power My dark prince feels the sweetness of life If only during twilight as husband and wife He’ll walk in the darkness as I do in the light Reliving each moment of our last twilight © 2009 Nancy Lee ShraderReviews
