WHO AM I?

WHO AM I?

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

WHO AM I?

I bet you can’t guess

Who I am

For the sake of rhyme

My name ain’t Sam

I’m brown and white

With four white feet

My nose is pugged

My disposition sweet

I sit up and beg

For my favorite treat

I roll over and play dead

And kick my feet

I’m always happy to see you

When you come through the door

I sit there patiently

When you go to the store

I walk by your side

And never run ahead

I obey the rules

And treats I am fed

I lay by the fireplace

With the family cat

She purrs me to sleep

Just like that

I fetch a stick

My boy throws it high

I race after it

As it flies through the sky

I chase my tail

Around in circles

I clean the floor

My name is Eurkles

I take a nap

In a hollow log

I bet you didn’t know

That I’m the family dog

I’m your sweet puppy dog

Eurkels the Great

I meet you after school

And I’m never late
