Hear the Trees Sing

When the trees sing, what really matters

Is knowing that the trees are singing at all

In spring humming its sweet lullaby

While brids of the air hear nature's call

Capturing the moment of new birth

As her leaves rustle a humming tune

If you listen closelyyou'll hear

Trees singing on a lazy afternoon

When the trees sing, what really matters

Is knowing that the trees are singing at all

In summer listen as the sun glistens

As fledglings try to stall

Mother Maple stands guard

Singing her victory song

As fledglings leave the nest

Flapping their wings so strong

When the trees sing, what really matters

Is knowing that the trees are singing at all

Autumn brings a song of crackling sound

As birds fly away in the fall

Mother Maple waves her branches

Waving goodbye for another year

Flight plans have been decided

Flying south chirping with good cheer

When the trees sing, what really matters

Is knowing that the trees are singing at all

Winter brings Christmas snow

Hear the singing pines so tall

Ice crystals form on their brances

Wind whistles humming a Christmas song

Singing peace on earth to all

About a Savior who will right each wrong

What a wonderful write Nancy....even with the reflection of the Christmas season.
The trees are as alive as we are...and if we listen with our hearts, we'll hear their melody.

So beautiful... nature is always trying to tell us something but we are to busy to listen most of the time... life is short and we must appreciate the beauty around us ,especially love before it is too late.

I love this poem and I truly believe Mattie Stepanak, that young boy-poet whose words were borrowed here, would also love it. I love the personfied "Mother Maple." You are one very good poet whom I am glad to call a friend and a poet-buddy.
