Blood Thirst
A Poem by
Nancy Lee Shrader
Blood Thirst
Vampire stalks the night
Lust for crimson blood churns in his veins
His evil eyes survey his surroundings
The light of the moon wanes
Dark shadows hide him from view
His nostrils flare, crimson blood in the air
Leora waits at her stop
He has her scent too late to beware
The moment their eyes meet
Captivated within his evil charms
Leora is completely under his spell
She collapses in his arms
He makes love to her with his eyes
She draws in her final breath
She is in the right position
Maximum drainage ushers death
His eyes flood with ecstasy
Sharp fangs sink deep
Into soft delicate flesh
She’s too mesmerized to weep
Sucking her crimson blood into his veins
Completing his reason for being
Her body quivers in death’s wake
She cries out, but never fleeing
In a single moment of rapture
Leora cries out in exotic pain
Her heart ceases to beat.
Left dead in the falling rain
Still he feels the thirst
Driving him into the night
He stalks another prey
Under the full moon bright
Another day, another year
His thirst drives him on
Always searching the night
He is Satan’s spawn
A female catches his eye
Her crimson blood he can almost taste
His tongue runs across his lips
His evil heart raced
He follows her in the shadows
She is small and all alone
He withdraws from the shadows
With a whiff of musky cologne
Suddenly she turns
Hate fills her innocent eyes
She maybe small
But that is her disguise
She holds justice for her sister
In her hand a wooden stake
It’s his turn to bleed
To his heart a burning ache
The stake is thrust deep
He cries out in pain
She pierced his black heart
Dead vampire in the rain

Wow, I didn't think you delved into the darkness Ms. Shrader :) I love it! Your piece reads like a well-crafted, dark yet romantic prologue with a tinge of sensuality embracing it. I also like the graphic. I enjoyed reading this.
