Dancing Footprints

Sitting at my computer
Typing words upon the page
My mind is full of wonderful word
Dancing footprints in my brain
Which one will be the perfect word?
Which one will make the final cut?
To complete my verse in rhyme
There must a dancing footprint
That will make my poet’s heart chime

Illusions is a word of myth
Transcends goes before
Haunting is a ghostly lure
Love is always a good footprint
Trust is even better
Kaleidoscope and rainbows
Fill my mind with colors for sure
So many dancing footprints
Leaving my mind in a blur

Puzzles that are missing a piece
Tells of a broken heart
Or a love completed, dancing in the dark
That one piece made it whole
Gypsy is a fleeting word, but it dances too
Like nomadic, roaming,
Wandering, traveling and drifting
All of the above are poetic footprints
That brings to my soul a lifting

So I wonder which footprints
Will be my picks tonight
Will my topic be on hope, love and trust?
Ghosts and goblins or little kitty cats
It could be about nature growing under the sun
Now there are many footprints that sing nature’s song
Thunderstorms and lightning, gentle rain clouds and sunshine
Wind and soft breezes blowing through the tall pine trees
Fragrant flowers like the colorful columbine

Columbine brings more words to mind
Like bees and hummingbirds
The sweet nectar in the flower
Has honey bees a buzzing and
Hummingbirds a flittering
And many people aiming cameras
Hoping for the perfect photograph
Now all those pretty pictures fill my mind
With footprins of happiness as I smile and laugh

Cute poem... Love the feet...

Posted 15 Years Ago

I like the sense of movement in this poem, particularly the comparison of words with dancing footprints. I did find some of the wording a little confusing from "Illusions is a word of myth.." through "that one piece made it whole". This is a sweet poem.

The dancing footprints at the top of the page made me smile. There were times through your poem when the rhythm felt a bit off, but the idea of it was cute.
