DOOMS DAY MACHINEA Story by Nancy Lee ShraderDOOMS DAY MACHINE The evil that had begun on the planet Maron many years ago now grew darker, and even more sinister, as two wicked races joined forces. The Sahibbians, thought extinct, had reentered the playing field of evil in this world. Joined with the evil Counts Remus and Darmus; they now plotted against the people of Earth, not realizing that the people from the United Trinity Planets were here, and the Hand of God Team were closing in. Quick thinking on the team’s behalf had exposed the true intentions of this evil alliance. The two evil races planned to do away with their so-called allies, when their usefulness was spent in order to obtain the ultimate weapon for themselves. Whoever possessed the Dooms Day machine would control the world. It had brought about the destruction of Sahibb thousands of years ago. The remnant of the Sahibbian people controlled the Dooms Day machine, but in fear of its power feared its use. They needed the technology of the Talonian crystal to stabilize the device and Darmus and Remus held the secret of the crystal. The two evil forces now set against each other were friend to the others face, but mortal enemies behind their backs. Each determined to be the one to take home the spoils and control Earth. Sahibbian spies would have the information very soon and then Remus and Darmus would be eliminated. Remus and Darmus had the same goal in mind. They would discover the location of the Dooms Day machine and wipe the Sahibbians from the face of the universe. Darmus, and Remus were now regretting all the information, they had shared with the Sahibbians, and vice versa. Plots were being hatched in secret underground bunkers in order to bring the other to their knees. Soon their black sinister hearts will bring about the others destruction and their evil souls would be burning alongside each other, in the bowels of everlasting darkness. King Beelzebub sat in his bunker located in the state of Kansas, where he had just arrived early that morning. He and his cabinet had been moving from bunker to bunker, in an attempt to be a harder target to hit. Knowing that the evil Counts were hid away somewhere plotting his demise. A shipment of weapon parts had been delivered just the day before the broadcast that revealed the plans of both allies. King Beelzebub had a fighting chance. The army of Darmus, and Remus still in route from Maron, would give the King first strike. Beelzebub knew the one who draws first blood would be the victor. At the behest of Jubal his trusted aide, King Beelzebub made a mental note of every location that they had met with the evil Counts. At that moment their underground missiles were being aimed at every location known to them. “It won’t be long now, Sire, the homing device that you had attached to that filthy animal will lead our missiles to their target. Remus carries that cat everywhere he goes. The device will send the coordinates to our missile silos, and that will be the end of one enemy, then we can concentrate on the Earthlings and their new found allies from our solar system.” “How did you ever attach the tracking device to that demon cat without being torn apart?” King Beelzebub asked. “I placed a sleeping powder on the fur of a rat and then I just turned it loose in Remus’ sleeping chamber, while he and Darmus were out. Then after that gluttonous creature ate its fill, slipping into an induced sleep; I attached the tracking device to his collar. “Well it really did the trick,” laughed Beelzebub However, in hind sight, I should have attached a bug as well; then we would have been apprised of their betrayal long before now.” “Jubal, you are without saying, my right-hand,” Beelzebub exclaimed proudly. “One sure thing, I will never have to lay eyes on that mangy cat again, or put up with that stench he leaves behind everywhere he goes.” “Let’s take our seats in the launching chamber, where we can watch the feed from the cameras attached to the nose of each missile. I do hope they are standing outside their bunker when it hits. I sure relish seeing the look on their faces when they realize they have been had.” King Beelzebub and the rest of his cabinet left the throne chamber, to take their seats for the show in the launching chamber. It won’t be long now were the thoughts of the entire cabinet. Darmus and Remus arrived early that morning at their secret bunker hidden deep in a sparsely inhabited and secluded area in West Virginia. They had kept the knowledge of this bunker’s existence secret from the Sahibbians. One of the few places that they really felt safe; there they could plot their next move. Remus was angry with Darmus for leaving his precious Demon behind. He instructed Darmus to grab Demon while he gathered up the tracking devices for the missile guidance system. There was no way he could go back to the known bunker to get his beloved cat. He knew the Sahibbians would be able to track him if her retuned to rescue Demon, and every time he looked at his brother his anger seethed. Demon, his black cat, was Remus’ only weakness; he loved that cat with a passion. Demon would not let another living soul near him, not even his brother. Darmus couldn’t go near Remus when Demon was on guard. The only way Darmus could get near the cat was when he was locked inside his carrier. Remus seethed at the thought of what King Beelzebub would do to his beloved pet, and even if Beelzebub’s spies didn’t locate the other bunker; Demon was still locked in his carrier, unable to catch his own food, and would starve to death. “How could you have left Demon locked in that carrier?” Remus seethed, in a low gravely whispered tone. His sinister eyes shot daggers in his brother’s direction, displaying his loathing. “I had my hands full, and I just totally forgot to grab his carrier,” Darmus explained; not revealing that he had purposely left the creature behind. That cat was getting on my last nerve; I hope a roaming Pit Bull tears that useless piece of fur to pieces. Darmus’ inner voice screamed echoing within his mind. No, he had not forgotten Demon; he had deliberately left him there. That demon cat has scratched me for the last time. Remus can just rename him Ghost, a fitting end for that freakish ball of fur. Darmus turned away from his brother as the sinister grin grew wider, as he relished the thought of Demon being torn to pieces. “Darmus, I have all the coordinates for all the Sahibbian bunkers. All our missiles are ready to launch,” Remus said in a high squeaky voice that always ruffled Darmus’ feathers. “We will strike swift and fast,” Darmus seethed in that irritating low gravelly voice, that always made Remus’ skin crawl. They both looked at each other as if the other was the enemy, their dark eyes darting daggers back and forth. “Shall I push the buttons and launch the first missile,” exclaimed Remus? “No! You idiot!” Darmus screamed. “That would give them time to fire their own missiles you fool! All missiles must be launched at the same time, to be sure of Beelzebub’s demise.” “Don’t call me the fool! You moron! If it wasn’t for me; you would have no idea where to launch the missiles!” Remus screamed. “Missiles aren’t of any use, if you don’t launch them at the appropriate moment, you idiot!” “Well you can’t launch them at all; if you can’t program their trajection!” Remus screamed, as he flipped all the switches shutting everything down at once. “See if you can hit anything now you earless stub nose crater face!” “See what you’ve done you handless, brainless freak of nature!” Darmus was never able to come up with an original insult, always copying whatever insults his brother came up with. “It will take days to get everything up and running again and by then the Sahibbians will have launched their own missiles! I should have cut off both your hands, and fed them to that fiendish cat.” “You did leave Demon there on purpose! I should have cut out your tongue instead of cutting off your ear, and half of your nose! Then I wouldn’t have to listen to that voice of yours that sounds like an echo from deep inside a tomb!” “And I should have cut out your tongue instead of your hand. At least then you wouldn’t sound like the squeaking hinges from the door of a tomb; then you would just sound like the moron that you are, making garbled unrecognizable sounds!” Remus picked up the sledge hammer that Darmus had left leaning against the wall of the bunker and slammed it down on the control panel of the missile launch system. The control panel burst into flames. Flashes of fire streaked across the bunker, causing a complete and total meltdown of the entire system, which left, the missiles aimed and ready to fire, with no guidance system to guide them to their targets. Enraged, Darmus pulled his dagger, and plunged it deep into his brother’s heart, at the exact same moment Remus pulled his weapon and shot Darmus right between the eyes. The two evil brothers fell to the cement floor, splashing in their own blood, and causing a grotesque splatter of red mingling with the fried wires of the of the melted control panel. The two evil brothers lay dead on that bunker floor. Their evil life forces cut off by the hand of the other, now lying in a pool of their own blood mixed and intertwined destroyed by the evil that lived within them. King Beelzebub and his entire cabinet sat in the control room of the launch chamber. Soon they would have the show of a life time. The missile tracking system was pin pointing the location of the tracking device attached to Demon’s collar. When that was accomplished, the evil Counts would go up in a mushroom cloud of smoke. “Is everything ready Jubal,” King Beelzebub asked, rubbing his hands together in sadistic glee? “Almost sire, replied Jubal. Everyone better put on their helmet shields, or be blinded by the explosions. Where is Bale? I was sure he would have wanted to be here for this?” “I sent him to check out Remus and Darmus’ sleeping chamber here; possibly they left clues to their next location.” replied King Beelzebub. “I’m hoping he’ll find out if they left any useful information on other shipments arriving from Maron, as well. I’m sure they only shared just enough information to keep us believing that we are comrades, but their betrayal proves that there must be other shipments that we were not made aware of.” “Our instruments have the exact location. The tracking device is stationary. We have a lock on the target.” “All is ready sir,” shouted the launch technician. “All is ready Sire! We launch at your command,” Jubal exclaimed. “Start the countdown Jubal!” Jubal, and King Beelzebub turned the keys in sequent, and the countdown began. “Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One!” Jubal and King Beelzebub counted aloud while the control panel displayed the countdown numbers. “BLAST OFF!” King Beelzebub’s excited voice could be heard throughout the underground bunker. King Beelzebub pulled down the lever, and they all heard the roar and the vibration of the launching missiles firing from deep inside the missile silos. The entire cabinet was mesmerized, watching the monitors as the missiles flew on their course to their waiting target. Up up up they went, high into the atmosphere. At the same moment, as King Beelzebub watch in silent glee, Bale burst into the control chamber. “Sire! Sire! They left this behind!” He held up the cage that imprisoned the angry demon cat. The cabinet members turned, staring in terror at the collar around Demon’s neck. All eyes focused in on the small tracking device and then turned back to the monitor which showed on the screen King Beelzebub’s black Mercedes parked just below the entrance of their underground bunker. Jubal screamed, “Bale, you id” . . . BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM! Four blasts rocked the entire state of Kansas; the mushroom cloud could be seen three states away. The massive blast caused a violent earthquake that could be felt in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, and New Mexico. Earth was safe from radiation poison; because Beelzebub made sure there was no radiation emitted from the nuclear warheads, so not to poison his new planet Sahibb. The rumblings from inside the silos, gave the forces of the United Trinity Planets advanced warning and they transported every man, woman, and child, living in the state of Kansas to safety. Confused, the population of Kansas watched from the twelve Federation Spacecrafts that encircled the Earth. They watched their state being turned into rubble. There was no denying it any more; the people from the United Trinity Planets were allies with Earth, against unnumbered foes. Now Earth would stand shoulder to shoulder with their new friends from the far away Treckeon Solar System.
