Last Mile

Last Mile

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Last Mile

I leave this life

Walk my last mile

Earth is behind me

Tunnel of light I see

I'm not walking alone

Light embraces me

In the blink of an eye

I'm standing at the Throne

God smiles ... and

He opens the book

My Heavenly Father

Looks inside

Reading my life's worth

I listen as He speaks ... but

I don't hear of my sins

Only a salvation prayer

Spoken through tears

I peeked over God's shoulder

My sins aren't there

Wicked deeds

Things done in my life

Reiterated

More times than not

Human was I ... but

No excuse

My eyes are now open

Jesus died for me ... and

My sins forgotten

Forgiven

I'm Free

Eternal Life for me

Very beautiful Nancy.

"God smiles ... and
He opens the book"

Loved that line, it makes you think, doesn't it?

Well done my friend!

Very nice. A good rhythm and word choice. Strong message of salvation. Many should follow in obedience to the scriptures, few will entertain them.
