West Virginia Smiles

West Virginia Smiles

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

West Virginia smiles on me

In mountains oh so high

Climbing high above

Attempting to touch the sky

West Virginia smiles on me

In quiet country roads so slow

Curving down the mountainside

To lush green valleys way below

West Virginia smiles on me

In its crescent moon

And glorious sun

That climbs high at noon

West Virginia smiles on me

With the breaking of each new day

Sending prayers on the wind

As in our beds we lay

West Virginia smiles on me

In country folks so true

Abiding love sings its song

For me West Virginia and you

West Virginia smiles on me

With every twinkling star

God in His heaven is smiling too

Cause West Virginia is where we are

Wild Wonderful West Virginia smiles

And God in heaven smiles

West Virginia Smiles
