At Least it Wasn't a LieA Poem by Nano RainSimple things that eventually can hurt the most...When you told me you didn’t know. Then you said I was wrong.
You couldn’t have known. So why did you say That I wasn’t right? Because you didn’t know either.
At least it wasn’t a lie. Was it?
[]
When you said we shouldn’t be friends. When we have for years. Then I asked why
You didn’t like me, and you never had. So why didn’t you say That before? Because we didn’t have to be.
So you kept it from me. And our friendship was a lie.
But when you said we shouldn’t be friends, At least it wasn’t a lie.
[]
When I asked you if you liked my drawing. When you didn’t look and said it was great. Then I made you try again.
You didn’t really care, then, did you? So why didn’t you say What really came to mind? Because you wanted to spare my feelings.
But it hurts worse to know you don’t care. That you lied.
It’s easier to lie, but harder to hear. If you just said it, it would really spare me.
If you said what you really think, then, At least it wasn’t a lie. © 2011 Nano RainAuthor's Note
